Ghana's 2009 New Year Message to Africa
"In the midst of the bad and the ugly that goes on in Africa, it is often hard to many for understandable reasons to find anything good. Even with intellectuals who ought to see or know better, pessimism often overshadows any rays of hope for the continent. Sometime last year we came across this highly educated lady with a Ph.D., an American married to a Nigerian and approached her for an interview on the wahala in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. The Lady in question not only had substantial knowledge on the crisis but had at one moment found herself in conflict with the authorities in Nigeria over some espionage case with neither head nor tail. When the respected Lady heard that a guiding philosophy of PAV was Marketing African Success Stories & More she had a good laugh because in her own words, there was really very little success to write home about. As much as we respect such opinions, we still believe that there is every reason to hope, in fact the theme of our editorial for the December edition was "Keeping Hopes Amidst the Odds". The recent elections in Ghana are a reason for those who consider Africa a basket case to revise their opinions. If there is anyone who still doubts that Africa may be approaching a new dawn, then the elections in Ghana have provided an answer."
